Welcome to the online home of the Criterion Bar Association -- the oldest and largest, all-inclusive scion society of the Baker Street Irregulars in the Chicagoland area. For over 40 years, our mission has been, in the words of Christopher Morley, "to perpetuate the myth that Sherlock Holmes is not a myth."

The Criterion Bar is located in Regent Circle, Piccadilly, and has been in operation since 1874. But it was in 1881 that it gained immortality by serving as the setting for a meeting between a convalescing army doctor named John Watson and his former dresser at St. Bartholomew's Hospital. It was at this chance meeting that Dr. Watson was first informed of a possible flat-mate whose name was Sherlock Holmes...

We have chosen to honor this etablishment by chosing its name for our society, which is dedicated to "the great game" and scholarly pursuit of all things Sherlock! Please feel free to amble through our pages and learn more about our organization and meetings, how to contact us and links to other online resources that join us in devotion to the master detective.
